Ancient Lands Portals & Dragon Attacks

Ancient Lands Portals and Dragon attacks are the two newest objective types tracked by Albion Online Objectives (AOO). Portals spawn in the Black Zone; Dragon attacks strike the Black Zone and the Royal Continent alike. Both are reported with the same /add command your guild already uses, on the bot’s 276 Black Zone maps.

What Are Ancient Lands Portals?

Ancient Lands Portals are timed Black Zone objectives that come in three sizes. In the bot, the size takes the place of a rarity: you pick it in the rarity field of /add, exactly where you would pick a tier for a node or a rarity for a core.

The size matters because it determines the in-game group capacity:

SizeBot valueGroup capacity
SmallSmall1–5 players
MediumMedium5–7 players
LargeLarge15–20 players

A Small portal is content for a solo player or a small party, while a Large portal calls for a full group. Knowing the size before you travel lets the shot caller send the right number of players.

Time limits per size

Each portal size has its own maximum for the time value of /add and /edit:

SizeMaximum delay
Small30 minutes
Medium60 minutes
Large180 minutes

All other objective types keep the general limit of 1440 minutes (24 hours). If a time value is both malformed and out of range, the format error is reported first.

What Are Dragon Attacks?

Dragon attacks are open-world events that hit both the Black Zone and the Royal Continent. They carry no rarity of their own: the attack’s tier follows the tier of the map it spawns on, so there is nothing to pick.

When reporting a Dragon, leave the rarity field empty. The field is optional precisely for this case:

  • Leaving it empty for a Dragon is accepted.
  • Supplying any rarity with a Dragon is rejected; the type takes none.
  • The rarity autocomplete offers no suggestions once Dragon is selected.

For every other type, the rarity is still expected (see the validation rules on the /add page).

Tracking with Albion Online Objectives

Report both types with /add as soon as a scout spots one. The rarity autocomplete is context-aware: selecting Ancient Lands Portal as the type restricts the suggestions to the three sizes, and selecting Dragon leaves them empty.

Example Commands

/add type:Ancient Lands Portal rarity:Small map:Murdergulch Ravine time:25
/add type:Ancient Lands Portal rarity:Medium map:Deepwood Gorge time:00:45
/add type:Ancient Lands Portal rarity:Large map:Hightree Enclave time:2h30
/add type:Dragon map:Everwinter Peak time:1h15

Duplicate prevention applies to both types exactly as it does elsewhere: a report matching an existing objective within the 8-minute window is rejected, Dragons included.

How They Appear in /list

The tracking message posted by /list gains two sections, shown only when they contain at least one objective, like every other section:

  • In ## Ancient Lands Portal ##, each portal line shows its size (Small, Medium, Large) where other lines show a rarity
  • In ## Dragon ##, each Dragon line shows no rarity segment at all

Everything else on the line is unchanged: index number, spawn time with live countdown, map name, maintenance flag, and reporter.
