Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the AOO bot (Albion Online Objectives) processes, why, for how long, and how you can exercise your rights over it. It covers the Discord bot and this website.
Who is responsible
The AOO bot is operated by an individual developer acting as the data controller. There is no data protection officer, as none is required for processing of this nature and scale.
You can reach the controller through either channel:
- Support Discord server — join the server . This is the fastest route.
- Email — contact@albion-online-objectives.com
Both channels accept any request covered by this policy. Use whichever suits you; the email address remains reachable if you no longer use Discord.
What data we collect
When a member of your server reports an objective, the bot stores one record containing:
- Discord server identifier — the server the objective belongs to
- Discord channel identifier — the channel where the tracking message is posted
- Discord user identifier — who reported the objective
- Objective data — type, rarity, map name, availability time, and a maintenance-window flag
- Record timestamps — when the record was created and last modified
Of these, the Discord user identifier is personal data. The rest is game data or technical metadata.
Separately, the bot stores one settings record per server, created when an administrator configures the bot or when the bot first posts an announcement:
- Discord server identifier — the server the settings belong to
- Announcement channel identifier — the channel chosen for release announcements, if one was set
- Last used channel identifier — the channel where the bot was last used, its fallback when no announcement channel is set
- Announcement preferences — whether announcements are enabled, and whether the
@everyonemention is allowed - Last announced version — so an announcement is never sent twice to the same server
- Record timestamps — when the record was created and last modified
This record contains no user identifier. It describes a server's configuration, not a person.
The bot does not collect:
- The content of your messages
- Email addresses
- IP addresses
- Stored usernames, nicknames or avatars
- Payment data
The bot holds no user account and no credentials of its own — it relies entirely on Discord for identity.
Display without storage
When the bot posts an objective in your channel, it shows the name of the member who reported it — your nickname on that server if you have one, otherwise your global Discord name. That name is read from Discord at the moment the message is rendered and is never written to our database. If you change your nickname, the change follows automatically on the next message; we hold no copy of it.
Why we process this data, and on what basis
The sole purpose is to provide the objective tracking service: recording objectives your server reports, displaying them in the channel, and removing them once they expire.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest of the controller and of your server in operating a functioning tracking tool (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Adding the bot to a server, and using its commands, is voluntary.
Data is used for nothing else. It is not sold, not licensed, not shared with advertising networks or data brokers, and not used to train machine learning models.
How long we keep it
An objective is deleted automatically once it expires. A scheduled task runs every 30 minutes and removes every objective whose availability time has passed. In practice this means an objective is deleted at its expiry time plus 30 minutes at most.
Deletion requires no action on your part, and no copy is retained afterwards. An
objective can also be deleted earlier at any time using the /remove command.
Server settings follow a different rule. They are kept for as long as the bot is installed on the server, since they describe how it should behave there. They are not deleted automatically when the bot is removed from a server. If you want a server's settings erased, ask us at the address below and we will delete them.
Who else receives this data

These are processors acting on the controller's instructions. No one else receives your data.
Data transfers outside the European Union
Hosting and backups are located in Switzerland (Infomaniak). Switzerland benefits from an adequacy decision of the European Commission, which recognises its level of data protection as equivalent to that of the European Union. No additional safeguards are required for this transfer.
Application logs are handled by Better Stack, whose stated default is storage in EU regions in ISO/IEC 27001-certified data centres. These logs contain server and channel identifiers only.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — obtain a copy of the data concerning you
- Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected
- Erasure — have your data deleted
- Restriction — have processing limited
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
To exercise any of them, contact us through the Discord server or by email. We respond within one month. If a request is complex, that period may be extended by two further months, and we will tell you why within the first month.
Deleting your data
You can delete an objective you reported at any time with the /remove
command — no request needed. To have every record associated with your Discord user
identifier deleted, contact us through either channel and we will action it.
Removing the bot from a server stops all further processing for that server. Existing objectives expire and are deleted by the scheduled task as described above.
Lodging a complaint
If you believe your data is being processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In France this is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) . You may also contact the authority of your country of residence.
Automated decision-making
The bot performs no automated decision-making and no profiling. It does not analyse your behaviour, build a profile, or make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
Is providing this data required?
No. Using the bot is entirely voluntary. If you do not report an objective, no data about you is stored. There is no contractual or statutory obligation to provide anything — the only consequence of not doing so is that you do not use the bot.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the service changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on the support Discord server.
